Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Icarus Explorers runs the Duke of Edinburgh's (DofE) Award as part of a wider programme supporting young people to achieve Scouting's Top Awards (the Platinum and Diamond Chief Scout's Award and the highly prestigious King's Scout Award).

The costs of participating in DofE with Scouts are considerably lower than doing it at school as, in Scouts, it is run by volunteers.  The only costs are the registration fees and food/transport for the expedition.  For Scouts Scotland, the fees are currently £30 for Bronze and Silver and £36 for Gold.

If you want to sign up, speak to one of the volunteers in the Explorers Team.  You will be able to manage your progress using an app.  To get you started, you can download the Bronze Welcome Pack.

You will need to choose and log your activity for the 3 sections.

We will be able to help you arrange your expedition with other Explorers in the District.  For Bronze, this is for 2 days and 1 night.  Here is the latest kit guide: DofE Kit Guide April 2024.  Scouts have a lot of kit available to borrow, so don't rush to buy things without checking with us first.
