Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the subscription?

Our latest subscriptions are available here.

Why is the waiting list so long?

Milngavie Scouts is 100% run by volunteers. We are thrilled that so many people want to join Milngavie Scouts. If you successfully apply for one of our volunteering roles then your child can join Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or Explorers without having to wait. If enough people come forward to volunteer, we'd be happy to consider an additional Beaver Colony to help reduce the waiting list.

Are their specific start dates or can my child join as soon as they reach the appropriate age and a place is available?

Does my child need to wear a uniform?

On the first night, we suggest casual clothes are worn as we are usually very active, uniform can be bought later (we recommend purchasing at least  the Beavers sweatshirt as any badges earned are sewn onto this, the polo shirt and other uniform items are optional). They will be given a neckie (or neckerchief) a short while after they make their promise.

Does my child need to bring anything?

We recommend bringing water - some of our activities are energetic!

Can parents stay?

You are welcome to stay at the start of the evening to ensure your child settles in.  We often ask for parents to stay for sessions to support our regular leaders and volunteers so we would appreciate those who are able to give

Are you able to support children with additional needs?

We encourage you to get in touch to discuss your child's specific needs.

Is there any difference between to the two Beaver Colonies?
